Setup

Setup starts with your existing number and a missed-call divert test.

Before connecting paid phone or SMS workflows, the key technical question is whether unanswered calls can route correctly and preserve the caller number.

Process

Setup checklist.

1

Submit business, number and provider details.

2

Confirm number type and access to no-answer call divert settings.

3

Run a missed-call divert test to a catch number.

4

Confirm caller ID pass-through and SMS compliance requirements.

5

Activate the trade-specific SMS script and lead summary delivery.

Best route

Existing business number, no-answer divert, caller ID pass-through, provider webhook, SMS response and lead summary.

Fallback route

A tracking number can be used for website, Google Ads or landing pages if the existing number cannot support the required divert behaviour.

Manual before live API

Provider credentials, SMS approval and webhook verification should be completed before sending real customer messages.

FAQ

Setup questions.

Does this replace my phone number?

No. The preferred setup keeps your existing public number and uses a missed-call divert to route unanswered calls into the text-back flow. Optional tracking numbers can still be used for ads or landing pages.

Can I keep my existing number?

Yes. The business keeps its normal number. If the phone provider supports conditional call divert and passes the caller number correctly, unanswered calls can be sent to LeadSnap AI for instant AI/SMS follow-up.

What happens if I answer the call?

If you answer, the customer speaks to you as normal. The AI missed-call receptionist flow is intended for calls you do not answer.

What happens if I miss the call?

The unanswered call is intended to divert to the LeadSnap AI provider number. The provider can then trigger an instant AI-led text-back that asks the customer for job details, postcode, urgency, photos and callback time.

Are SMS and call costs included?

Provider charges may be billed separately depending on the final Telnyx, Twilio, OpenPhone, CallRail, Aircall, or similar setup.

Can this work with WhatsApp?

WhatsApp Business API support depends on the selected provider, WhatsApp approval requirements, and the final communication workflow.
